WHISKEY IN THE JAR
As I was going over the Cork and Kerry mountains
I met with captain Farrell and his money he was counting
I first produced me pistol and I then produced me rapier
Said stand and deliver for I am a bold deceiver
MUSHA RAIN DUM A DOO DUM A DAH
WHACK FOR MY DADDY OH (x2)
THERE’S WHISKEY IN THE JAR
I counted out his money and it made a pretty penny
I put in me pocket and I took it home to Jenny
She sighed and she swore that she’d never would deceive
but the devil take the women, so they never can be easy
MUSHA RAIN DUM A DOO DUM A DAH....
I went up to my chamber, all for to take a slumber
I dreamt of gold and jewels and for sure it was no wonder
But Jenny drew me charges and she filled them up with water
Then sent for captain Farrell to be ready for the slaughter
MUSHA RAIN DUM A DOO DUM A DAH....
‘Twas early in the morning before I rose to travel
The guards were all around me and likewise captain Farrell
I first produced me pistol for she’d stolen away me rapier
But I couldn’t shoot the water so a prisoner I was taken
MUSHA RAIN DUM A DOO DUM A DAH....
If anyone can help me is me brother in the army
I think he is stationed in Cork or in Killarney
And if he’ll go with me we’ll go roving in Kilkenny
I’m sure he’ll treat me better than me darling sporting Jenny
MUSHA RAIN DUM A DOO DUM A DAH....
Some men take delight in the carriages a rowling
and others take delight in the hurling and the bowling
But I take delight in the juice of the barley
and courting pretty fair maids in the morning bright and early
MUSHA RAIN DUM A DOO DUM A DAH....
MUSHA RAIN DUM A DOO DUM A DAH....
TIN WHISTLE
FIDDLE
